CANTINE Winepub Aptos Ca

Cantine in Santa Cruz California by Urban BackpackerMy daughter and I walked by this place eight times before the grand opening at CANTINE Winepub Aptos Ca. Truth-be-told, we would both be caught (by random folks in the parking lot), just peering in the windows waiting for a new menu or info to be posted. Finally – the day arrived when we were able to drink and feast at this darling neighborhood delight. Food paring is perfect, with the specialty vino and brews. Owners are wonderful, kind, and know their vines. There is a hip cool warm Santa Cruz vibe you will not be able to resist!

Do not miss serving yourself up some perfect “date night magic,” at Urban Backpacker’s FAVORITE NEW Aptos wine bar & brew pub!

A modern take on a European social club, CANTINE Winepub Aptos Ca, is where Aptos locals go to relax in an intimate setting. The décor plays a big part in the experience, notably the gorgeous woodwork and cozy bench seating along the main walls, which are dotted with large colorful pillows. An eclectic mix of tables and chairs occupy the open spaces around the bar, which is prominently featured in the middle of the room.

Cantine Wineclub Santa Cruz, CA by Urban BackpackerThe bar offers a great selection of new and old-world wines, eight beer taps and plenty of other interesting options, such as ciders, meads, and hard-to-find bottled beer. Check the menu to see what wines are available on tap – there are eight of them! The main benefit of keg wine is freshness, as it mitigates the threat of oxidation. What you can get on tap (or by the glass from a bottle) varies from week to week, but the variety and quality pleases neophytes and experts alike.

It’s not just the atmosphere and generous array of libations that turn locals into regulars! CANTINE is also a food destination.  The requisite cheese, charcuterie and olive plates are available, but the tapas and desserts will literally melt in your mouth.  If the prosciutto wrapped Medjool dates, stuffed with Point Reyes Blue Cheese don’t make your mouth water, try the Tortilla Espanola with sherry braised onions, chorizo and Manchego cheese. The menu is replete with sharable delights for all appetites, including a dark chocolate brownie with salted caramel artfully dripped over it, which is absolutely heavenly. And don’t forget to chase the chocolate with tasty tawny Porto.

When you’re ready for a breath of fresh air, step onto the balcony out back.  Facing west, you’ll see few tall pines shooting up from wild foliage 100 feet below. It’s truly a feast for your eyes, particularly at sunset.

CANTINE Winepub Aptos Ca, is the realization of a lifelong dream for proprietor Jason McKay. Jason has always wanted to create a local spot with a neighborhood feel, and we’re all glad he finally did!

It’s an inspired, eclectic vibe that creates a comfortable, cozy space that’s both mellow for locals and upscale enough for a date.

CANTINE is located in Aptos Village at 8050 Soquel Drive. Open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 – 10pm and Friday-Sunday from noon – 10pm. Call 831.612.6191 or to visit Cantine Winepub website – click here.

EAT, DRINK, SAVOR the WINE, SO SUBLIME!
