Piattino means “saucer” or “side plate in Italian.” Piattino Pearl District in Portland serves up nice rounds of what we nowadays refer to as, “small plates.” It’s so dang enjoyable to share a good smattering of flavors “family style” (at one restaurant) with favorite people.
Piattino, a newly renovated Mediterranean restaurant, sits in the Pearl District on a little hidden gem corner of Portland. I walked by four times last week before coercing my daughter and granddaughter to have lunch with me there. Random food thought: For some reason, I am sampling a lot of kale and meatball dishes this week. Seems to be a popular menu staple these days. Good for me, because the super food kale vitamin rating “has me at HELLO” on every menu.
The house meatballs (we ordered two of), the ravioli was delicious, the porcini pate with cider mostarda was great (but ask for the soft bread) the hard crostini might just break a tooth. The kale salad wasn’t my verrry very favorite of the week, yet I adored the cauliflower and chickpeas on top, and we were too darn full to try the pizza! The VERY BEST thing on the menu was the yogurt cheesecake (more like a flan – see the post picture) and we swooped and scooped that baby into tomorrow!
The beautiful re-purposed barn wood interiors adds “an inviting ambiance” to this petite Portland Ristorante. Kasey and Chef Michael Campbell are delightful, and the owner Koroush’s (years of owning pizzeria’s in London) adds a special food history to the warm hospitality and charm of his newest creation in Piattino.
Yes, after a good fun meal, those who know me, know that I hug when I leave. I am a happy thankful food, adventure, and hotel hugger. I appreciate folks that dream up, prepare, and serve good food for the world to enjoy. It’s quite a gift. Thanks for the hugs! Thanks for the good food!
Thank you Piattino!
