Must Stay:

I stay here when I am not staying with my dear friends in Rome. Underground onsite Roman ruins and a darling rooftop terrace for a late afternoon glass of vino and a snack. One of the rooms has it’s own private garden. Inn at the Roman Forum

For a lower budget option please stay here near the Vatican in a darling apartment some friends of mine remodeled at Suite Caracciolo.

Must Compare:

Alternate apartment rental sites in Rome Italy at Home Away or Rome Loft or Parker Villas.

Must Eat:

****My favorite hot spot for lunch, amazing people watching, enjoy an afternoon espresso, as the statues and walk back in time will blow your mind at Canova Tadolini!

On the way to Villa D’Este and Hadrians Villa or on the return book a reservation here at Sibilla Restaurant, the view is spectacular and the food makes you croon. My favorite Sushi Doozo Art and Books. I reviewed it somewhere on TripAdvisor a few years back.

Great seafood at Sa Tanca Crostaceria! Had a lovely dinner here with my sister one year. Dressy fancy schmancy and the waiters are so proper and polite and swoop up every dish as soon as you are finished licking your fingers or the plate.

****Best pasta carbonara at La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali! Make reservations. Small and family run. Order the specials not off the menu.

Must Sit:

About eighteen years ago I sat here at Piazza Navona and had my picture sketched by an Italian artist hottie. My life was utterly inspired and I am still painting at Rochelle Carr Studio and Gallery today. Remains one of the best things to do in ROME.

Must Ogle:

Close by Piazza Navona is Campo de Fiori – a must visit if in the neighborhood and don’t forget to walk up the Spanish Steps!

The Aventine Hill is a great place to arrive on a scooter and start the the seven hills of Rome tour.

My favorite gardens at Galleria Borghese and an incredible, wonderful, spectacular museum! The statues will bring tears to your eyes. Wander the gardens. Plan ahead and get there early as they coral you like cattle for your appointment times.

My favorite waterfalls ever at Villa d’Este Tivoli Gardens. Hire a car, take a bus, pack a picnic and you’re in for a treat! Don’t go when its 100 degrees. Stop here on the way to d’Este to Hadrians Villa.
