The Drawing Room New York – Best Hair Salon SOHO

The Drawing Room New York

You had me at “hello.” Five words: YOU PEOPLE ROCK MY WORLD! Every four months I travel East (all the way from Santa Cruz California to NYC), to have my hair colored and cut at The Drawing Room New York. I hop on a free mileage ticket, enjoy a free hotel in the Financial District (a work trip for partner), and I pay for my hair and food. I used to travel to Oregon for hair re-do. Nowadays, The Drawing Room New York, calls my name every four to five months. The prices are comparable. I tip well because they deserve it. I eat Italian and Greek food while I am there and I might even fancy a Broadway show – if the budget supports it.

Hair Extravanganza

The Urban Backpacker “Hair Extravaganza” trip is worth every artful dip of the brush and every exquisite clip and swag of the scissors. I am a painter of large canvas. These folks are fine artists of a much different sort – and they master their fine art with shears and hair color while delivering impeccable “architectural hair design.” Owner and “King of Tresses” Clyde says, “Our mission is to create custom designed hair styles that reflect each clients individuality, desire, and unique personality.” My hair, after a day here says: “The Drawing Room New York has succeeded in capturing the essence of art and beauty through hair – tenfold.”

Spoil Yourself – When you LOOK GOOD you FEEL GOOD

From the minute I walk into this pristine white-red-silver-sexy salon I feel happy. I know I am here to be spoiled and pampered. I realize I am here for about four or five hours and trust when I walk out of here, I will LOOK GOOD AND FEEL GOOD. In my own mind, for this one day – I feel transformed into beautiful. At the very least…..when I walk out of here…..every single time……I know I will have that amazing-feel-good-just-spoiled-myself “look of love” written all over my head of hair.

The Team

The Drawing Room New York will not disappoint you. These folks are amazing creative sculptresses and sculptors. They are kind, real, and talented in their own specialized art forms. They give good shampoo. The front desk is alive with answers and every sort of awesome. They offer you libations and teas. They listen. They work hard. They love what they do. They are interesting people – just like you.

Restaurants & Broadway Show Tickets NYC

My favorite restaurants (a few are just down the street) from The Drawing Room New York (because after the hair pampering I need to celebrate and meet my people): Mercer Kitchen click here. Get the steamed shrimp salad it is to swoon over. Drinks are fabulous. Great seafood spot and another cool hip vibe at Aquagrill click here. Voted best raw bar NYC! My favorite Italian food is Sette Mezzo – cash only & take a taxi click here. After a show we hit my favorite Greek food at Estiatorio Milos click here.

I buy some of my last minute Broadway Show tickets from my buddy “Rusty” when I have the budget for it. He is a “high end” Broadway ticket broker (been in the business 30 years) and an all around funny guy. It is convenient. It is expensive. The seats are amazing. He will find you seats in a sold out show. He has seen every show out there, and knows all the hot hot hot shows of the moment. Tickets are not cheap. Call him. #917-217-2372.

When I want a heavy discount last minute – I shop Broadway here. For day of show special discounts on Broadway (often times 40% to 50% off the ticket price) click here for the TKTS Discount booths in NYC via the Theater Development Fund.
